As the first flowers arrive, the hive must be divided in order to rebalance the resources (food and honey) and the brood (eggs, larvae and pupae). In an urban environment this essential step helps to prevent the phenomenon called swarming. For our Laval hives, this step took place on June 6th.<\/p>\n

A second queen born in the hive might decide to leave with part of the colony to settle in another place that might not be suitable for her.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the bees that have been removed from our hives, the hives that have had less chance this year can be repopulated.<\/p>\n
